Partagas 8-9-8 Barnizados Review:

This cigar was known for its strong tobacco taste and also strong earthy peppery flavours. The thing is that latest production has been made quite milder. For those who miss the old strong flavours, a possible solution is ageing the cigar properly, because it is presented in a fully varnished box, perfect for maturing the product.

JUN 08 I smoked this cigar with friend of my. The main characteristic is subtle velvety and soft. Have a woody and earthy taste, aged tobacco, a peppery spice in flavor, little coffee beans, cocoa powder? A touch of sweetnes. Well made cigar and perfect. 9 /10 - Submitted by kml on April 6, 2021

Pretty full flavored but very smooth, hints of Chocolate, Leather, some subtle spice, nutmeg, and cinnamon, bought an 08 aged box, and very impressed, save them for once in a while! SEP 07 I bought these in a 10 box 5-6 years ago, already with a few years on them. They were good but really strong, a little overpowering and unbalanced. Over the years I smoked them seeing some improvement and had one left over which I smoked today with over 10 years age on it. The change is amazing with long-term aging. It was still strong but softer, much more balanced and amazingly complex. Rich flavours of precious woods, roasted coffee bean and dark chocolate with a touch of underlying sweetness. Exotic spice intertwined with a rich creaminess - hints of herbs and doughy bread and even more occasional touches of jalapeno pepper and liquorice. Amazing. Even at close to 11 years aged these still could mature well for another few decades. Great size also - they need to make more new releases with the longer, slimmer gauge formats. - Submitted by A. --- I really had to battle this bloody cigar. It went out a total of 4 times. The core burning faster than the rest. It goes out, you snip, relight, it overheats. Repeat. Very frustrating. And no, I wasn't smoking it too fast. And yes, it was stored properly. Despite this arduous process it was well flavored. Not as full as I expected.
